Ganser Company - Jim Harbort - Production Manager
My name is Jim Harbort and I grew up in the Madison area with my bother and parents. As kids we enjoyed camping with our cousins and making weekend trips to our cabin in Black River Falls. Over the years I watched my dad make changes and improvements on our family cabin, to have it become the "retirement" home it is today. My brother and I took an interest in construction and when we were in our twenties we started our own business building homes. After twenty-five years in the business my wife and I decided that a change would be a good idea, and Ganser was the answer!
That cabin was maybe the start of my love for building, but my other loves (besides my beautiful wife) are football and softball. I have coached youth football for ten years and last year I had the honor to be able to coach at the high school level. I have taught the boys that it is very important to give it everything you've got when you on the field, because then you can look back with pride knowing you did your best. This philosophy is also what I use on the job; I always try to give 100% to each customer.
My other love involves my two talented and smart daughters. They both play fast pitch softball and usually play for two teams in the summer. I have coached them both at some point, much to their dismay. Ha-ha! I am a tough coach to them because I want them to learn softball is a lot like life, what you put in is what you get in return. I really love being at their games and am not sure what we will do when they are done playing…maybe take up underwater basket weaving??
I will close with a quote that I like:
"Life is no straight and easy corridor along which we travel free and unhampered, but a maze of passages, through which we must seek our way, lost and confused, now and again checked in a blind alley. But always, if we have faith, a door will open for us, not perhaps one that we ourselves would ever have thought of, but one that will ultimately prove good for us." A.J. Cronin
